Morning Prayers

Where am I
to go?
What am I
To do?
Next Steps??
I am weary.

I ask:
I want wisdom.
Have hesitancy.
Have dreams.
Always have headlights
reflected
in my eyes.

I hear a voice.

Who dat!!??!!

I am Here
I am Hear
I am Now
I am Wow.
You! Be still!

Me be scared.

Fear not.
I give you
What you’ve got.
You ask not
So you have not.

I want every
Persistent dream
Of mine.
More though,
I want
Wisdom.

You kid yourself.
You say you want
Wisdom.
You really want
A feeling.
Safety.

Embarrassed am I,
Feeling naked.
Fear not?
Clothe me.

I am your garment,
Your breastplate,
Your armor.
You stand waiting
yet you are not
Ready.

Give me ready!!!

Look down.
See the ground.
That is Me.
I am your Ground
What more do you
Need?

You are saying
Take a step
Aren’t you?

You know it.
Don’t blow it.

One step
I can do.

Now you have wisdom.
One step.
Then the next.
Again. Again. Again.
Never more than ONE.

You will feel
The need someday
To look up,
Little pup.
Then do it.

What you then
Will see is all
You will need.
Then look down.

I am the ground.
I am the Hound
Of Heaven.
Always there.
Mostly silent.
Always smarter
Than you.

One step

Poem 7

SLEEPING WITH DEAD SOLDIERS
This 4th of July is disturbing to me. So, I cried. I tried making sense of it all as I found myself:
He tasted sea salt
Somehow feeling nothing
Feet and legs overhead
Noise was awful

POPCORN JESUS
I was making popcorn the other night. It gave me opportunity to express much that I have learned from a lifetime of believing what I was taught about God before I began to listen to what He was telling me in my spirit.
Deep inside His skillet
The searing heat swells
It is a hell of sorts
The only hell
He ever made
