ETERNITY IS STRETCHED OUT
ETERNITY IS STRETCHED OUT
Eternity is stretched out..
It has wings
That do not move
In flight
When flying highest
Time is of no essence
In eternity’s presence
Time is like a brace
On legs in a race
Infinitely out of place
In freedom’s face
We have suffered long
We are mankind’s throng
In a warp of time.
The daily grind
Where our spirits
Do not often soar
Oh, we long for freedom
Where silent wisdom resides
Moved by invisible wind
Gently buffeting our
Small frame
That is eternity’s game
As we age
We meet the sage
Within us
That slows us down
To see what we have missed
Those whom we should
Have kissed
When young we used to run
Because of fear
And the search for fun
And because we could
We never understood
The eternity in stillness
Nor its glory did we see
Or how it could bring
Us glee, no need to flee
In happiness we would be
The mystery of
Movement in stillness
Only in eternal realms
Will we escape the bonds.
Of our willfulness
Feel the freedom of stillness
And find contentment and excitement
